REPORT SILENCED BY MINISTER
Earlier this week Skolverket (the public School Office) published a report concerning
the effiencency of the Swedish schools. The report showed two things that would make government
policy seem odd.
Firstly the report shows that the average quality of schools not publicly run is higher than the
quality of those that are publicly run. It also shows that public schools benefit from the competition.
Secondly it also shows that educated teachers give the same results as uneducated teachers - a clear
sign that there is something wrong with the way the teacher's education programme is designed.
Minister of schools Ibrahim Baylan's response? Forcing the School Office to withdraw the report and admit
that it wasn't well conducted (despite there being no evidence presented that this has been the case). This
has ment that the report is no longer availible, making sure that the public never gets to know that government
policy consists of preventing efficient schools to educate our young citizens.
Luckily Timbro managed to keep a copy of the report and has made a scanned version of it availible online.
You can find it here.
